Who we are

Choub (choub.co and the Choub app) is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g. Choub Co., Ltd.] in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the website, the app, and Choub Cards.

What we collect

Account. When you sign in with Telegram we receive your Telegram user ID, first and last name, username and profile photo. When you sign in with Google we receive your Google account ID, name, email address and photo. We do not receive your Telegram phone number or your Google password. Age. We ask for your date of birth once, to confirm you are 18 or over. We store only the year of birth and a yes/no adult flag. Worker profile. Only what you choose to enter: first name, district, languages, education level, job categories, expected pay, skills, work history, availability, shifts and days, an optional phone number, an optional photo, optional work photos and an optional short video. Your profile is visible to signed-in businesses. Business profile and verification. Business name, type, district, address, phone, a map pin, opening hours and shifts, optional logo and description. For verification we collect a photo of the shopfront taken in the app and a photo of the owner's identity document. The identity photo is used only to verify the business and is never shown to other users. Activity. Job posts, applications and their status, messages sent through Choub, reviews, saved jobs, and Choub Card details you choose to publish (a card page is public by design; each field has a shown/hidden switch). Location. The district and map pin you set. We only read your device's live location if you tap "Use my current location", and we use it only to place the pin. Technical data. Our hosting provider and Google Firebase record standard server logs (IP address, browser type, time of request) needed to run and secure the service. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers.

Why we use it

To run the service: show workers to businesses and jobs to workers, deliver messages, and manage applications.

To keep people safe: verify that businesses are real and at the address they claim, enforce our rules (no fees to workers, no jobs outside Cambodia, pay shown on every post), investigate reports, and prevent banned people from returning.

To operate subscriptions and Choub Card orders, including delivery and payment confirmation.

To contact you about your account, applications and orders. We do not send marketing messages unless you ask for them.

Who we share it with

Other users, as the product requires: businesses see worker profiles; workers see business profiles and job posts; both see reviews and messages exchanged with them. Phone numbers are shared only after both sides agree in a chat. Service providers that process data for us: Google Firebase (authentication, database and functions; data stored in the Singapore region), Netlify (website hosting), Telegram (sign-in), and OpenStreetMap (map tiles when you view a map). Each acts under its own terms and privacy policy. Authorities when required by Cambodian law or a valid legal request.

We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising.

How long we keep it

Account and profile data: for as long as your account exists, then deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.

Identity-document photos: until the verification decision is made and for a maximum of 30 days after it, then deleted. Only the verification result is kept.

Messages and applications: for as long as either party keeps an account, so that the work record remains accurate.

Reviews: kept after account deletion with the reviewer's name removed, because they form part of the other party's record.

Verification codes and sign-in tokens: minutes to hours.

Your choices and rights

You can edit or remove most profile information in the app at any time, and hide any Choub Card field.

You can ask us to send you a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account by contacting us (details below). We respond within 30 days.

You can withdraw consent to verification by not submitting it; a business that is not verified cannot post jobs but can still browse.

Children

Choub is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with Google Firebase using its access controls. Security rules limit each record to the people entitled to see it. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting you, we will tell you.

Changes

We will post any change to this policy here with a new date, and tell you in the app if the change is material.
